Rabi began his life as a bookman early on, learning the ways under the nameless master, simply known as Bookman. He wanted to learn the unwritten history and so he cast his real name away.

So far, he's had 48 aliases before Rabi with 48 different identities, he calls "records", recording the history, watching war after war. And with every alias came a false smile and playful demeanor. (After all, he was better than them. He avoided repeating the past.) But 49, Rabi, brought him to the Black Order, where he joined as an Exorcist with Bookman, as he was innocence-compatible. That's when things changed.

At first, he was hesitant, but as time went on, he could no longer tell if the smiles were false or real. It was the first record where he was involved in the battle. It was also the time when he began to wonder what drove people to war against one another, to care about one another. And it was also the first where he began to care about the people - the ink he wrote on his mental paper - as more than just pieces of history.

He was amazed by Allen's determination and resolve. He most notably saw this when Allen shook Crowley and convinced him to join the Order with a purpose and intent.

When he, Allen, Rinalee, Crowley, and eventually Kanda, Miranda, and a handful of others traveled to find General Cross, Rabi found himself determined to protect those he traveled with. He couldn't watch them get injured - or worse yet, die - and stand idly by. He watched as they were forced to leave Kanda and then Crowley behind to fight the Noah and protect the rest of the team.

Rhode reminded him of this newfound feeling when she cast him into an illusion, forcing him to fight with his bookman self. This drove him to attack Allen ruthlessly until Rabi was able to cast Rhode from his mind. Rabi also nearly lost his own life when Noah's Ark was downloaded to the new one and he disappeared from reality, until Allen, as the 14th's piano player, regenerated the Ark, under the force of Cross's suggestion.

Upon return to the Order, River repaired his weapon (along with Kanda's) and the two were sent off to Aegean to investigate the appearance of shadows and odd occurrences. There was a suspicion that the shadows could be linked to the Noah.
